A Bunch of Videos Featuring Mr. Alan Moore

22 March, 2008 (07:09) | Comics, Video | By: Loris Z.

While struggling against insomnia, I end up finding a lot of videos on Youtube featuring one of my favourite writers.

Here, Mr. Moore discusses magic, religion and his worship of Glycon:

V For Vendetta:

Watchmen:

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen:

Lost Girls

I was actually looking to hear him talk about From Hell. Next time, when my Google-Fu is actually working…

This little clip is from the documentary “In Search of Steve Ditko” that the BBC aired last year. It’s a part that gives me chills.

I need to reedeem myself from the previous post. I do.

Alex Fitch of the panel Borders podcast posted a video of their “Looking for Lost Girls” episode. You can download the video in various formats, or listen to it via streaming.

I haven’t seen yet the full video, but the bits that I saw were wonderful.

Go check it out.

The fact that this declaration comes from a platform as Youtube… makes me giggle.

Still, it’s David Lynch. I shut up and learn.

Why so Serious?

17 December, 2007 (18:59) | Video | By: Loris Z.

So, the expected Dark Knight trailer has hit the intarwubs. You can see it and download it HERE.

My opinions? When the first image for the Joker was released, I was liking it a lot. However I was hoping they would end up using some more makeup on him, to make his smile look like a full, “real”, smile, if you know what I mean. I was afraid the character would end up looking like a gangster who wore makeup. Which is an inherent problem with the hyper-real aesthetic superhero movies tend to have in the latest years. There’s a fine line between realism and ridiculous. the first movie was right on the edge of that line, but it was well managed, it never crossed it. Unlike Daredevil and some other cases.

After seeing this? I’m pleasantly surprised. the character has a presence that I wasn’t expecting at all. I knew Heath Ledger was going so surprise.

There’s a seven minute video filmed with a cellphone on Youtube showing footage from the movie, a heist by the Joker’s gang. Go search for it. It’s wonderful in its execution.

(However, I can’t stop smiling when I see that bike. I imagine the scene: The WB Executives, screaming at Nolan: “We need more toys! We need more toys!”)
